It&rsquo;s simple really. Forfusion was founded on the belief that there was a better way to run a technology consultancy. Both by empowering colleagues to be the best they can be, and by ensuring customers get the maximum return from their technology investments. This meant from day one, return on investment was at the top of our agenda.  The founders had all worked for, or with the big technology systems integrators. So we set out, first and foremost, to build a business on what not to do, rather than on what to do!  And so, this founding belief has enabled Forfusion to displace much larger and longer established incumbent suppliers, but more importantly why customers regard Forfusion in such high esteem &ndash; by being a trusted, strategic advisor with long-term relationships. Not the high volume, transactional-based &lsquo;throw enough s*** and it&rsquo;ll stick&rsquo; approach.  We didn&rsquo;t have it all our own way in the early days however. We had to start off by white labelling services, based in an office in Battersea no bigger than a Broom Cupboard to generate capital required to change our business model and deliver directly into end clients (now dubbed the &lsquo;Broom Cupboard to Boardroom&rsquo; story).  None of the directors had any money to speak of, so with no capital injection, and no interest from venture capital. We had little in the way of options to get started.  Surely enough, over the years, Forfusion grew its customer base on its founding belief and &lsquo;how not to do it&rsquo; philosophy. Before we knew it, Forfusion&rsquo;s reputation for customer-centric ethos and of course outstanding capabilities spread far and wide, domestically and internationally. This meant we could stop white labelling altogether.  Thus, we no longer had to let others take all the reputational credit and lion&rsquo;s share of the revenue for the cutting-edge work we were doing &ndash; and not a moment too soon! &nbsp;  What was the vision?  The initial vision was plain and simple. First and foremost, we knew we had to avoid making the mistakes that existing IT companies were making daily. The directors agreed on this one very important point, which even 10 years on, still rings true. I believe this has, and continues to prevent us from becoming complacent and taking things for granted &ndash; I like to think we will never lose sight of our initial vision.  How has that developed / come to life?  We progressed slowly and deliberately; arguably more slowly than we could have done. It was probably this approach that allowed us to lay foundations and make the right decisions early on in our journey. We were always planning and making provision for change, which looking back may well have hindered our progress slightly; however, it also provided us with a stable platform from which to grow. The fact we prepared well, meant we would later ride the waves caused by the recession; ironically, the awful events in 2008 and fallout thereafter probably presented the biggest opportunity. Customers began looking for agile and flexible partners, and so this gave us our chance.  What have been the proudest achievements?  That&rsquo;s a great question&hellip; We&rsquo;ve been growing so quickly recently it&rsquo;s been easy to forget to stop, take a look around and reflect. In all honesty, I do think we&rsquo;ve achieved an awful lot, but I&rsquo;m also aware that we have so much more to do and to accomplish.  There have been a few proud moments, but I think the proudest moment of all, has got to be bringing our HQ back to the North East.  Four of our directors were born and bred in the North East; we all share a strong sense of pride in knowing we&rsquo;re contributing to the region&rsquo;s economy &ndash; we make it a top priority to bring youngsters up through the ranks via formal apprenticeships, as well as fast-track programs, which we&rsquo;ve developed from scratch in-house.  What challenges do you face / have overcome?  We&rsquo;ve had to overcome many challenges, mostly relating to cash flow and HR; probably one of biggest challenges was recovering from an incident that happened in the early days, when we needed cash the most. We were owed &pound;15k by a serial rip off merchant (we didn&rsquo;t realise at the time) &ndash; the individual in question took monies owed from a customer for services we had delivered, and then decided to file for bankruptcy, hence we didn&rsquo;t receive payment. This single event very nearly led to the demise of Forfusion, it was our first very harsh and painful lesson.  What have you enjoyed the most?  That&rsquo;s an easy one &ndash; tackling the unknown and testing myself as well as others. Tackling the unknown has been terrifying and exhilarating in equal measure, which to an extent is what has kept me on my toes, and as strange as it may sound, it&rsquo;s helped me find balance. Working at an even pace without change doesn&rsquo;t really suit me; I&rsquo;m a risk taker at heart, so constant positive change works very well for me.&nbsp;  Over the past couple of years, I&rsquo;ve found a real passion for all things business development and marketing, and have a vested interest in matters relating to mergers and acquisition (especially given some very exciting news we are due to announce soon!), but these topics are all relatively new to me and I have lots to learn.  What have been the inflection points in technology over the last 10 years?  From my perspective, these have been the rapid development of unified communications, security and cloud (inc. virtualisation) services and products.  New technology and the shift in working behaviours have both worked in conjunction, which has fuelled change across all market sectors. Remote working policies introduced challenges in respect of education, culture and trust; security became more prominent as a direct result of world-wide events such as data breaches; whereas cloud computing encouraged annuity based, arguably more economical service models, and is a topic that still very much divides opinion.  How have they impacted the business?  The inflection points have had a very positive impact on our business; it has however been necessary for us to adapt and change direction very quickly to accommodate change, which is a challenge we thrive on, and in fact something I feel we are well set up to tackle.  We tend to encourage change, whether it be technology, economics, or politics, because we know we can move more quickly than most. We&rsquo;ve proved that agility and flexibility found in smaller organisations often trump other attributes so often promoted by larger businesses.&nbsp;  How will these impact the future?  Like they say, change is the only certainty in any business. The key is to be able to react quickly, and most importantly, to never ever become complacent. Fortunately, we have a very forward thinking and dynamic team. One thing I&rsquo;m sure will happen, is that competition will become even more fierce, and margins will likely be squeezed further, but it&rsquo;s then up to us to continually push the boundaries and innovate.  How is Forfusion preparing?  We focus on skilling up our in-house teams and apprentices across multiple technologies and vendors to ensure we&rsquo;re prepared for the future. We&rsquo;re always tweaking and refining the services we promote and sell to ensure we deliver in-line with market demand and changing trends. We&rsquo;ve recently taken on two more directors, both of which will be helping us drive our managed services portfolio/ catalogue. One of the guys brings experience in the world or process and procedure, including deep understanding of ITIL and ISO.&nbsp; The other brings strong business development skills with extensive experience in relation to cost modelling and packaging of managed services.  Advice to other tech entrepreneurs?  Don&rsquo;t be afraid of the unknown; instead, embrace it and meet challenges head on with every fibre of your being. In difficult and particularly stressful times, I will often look at myself in the mirror and say, &lsquo;if you don&rsquo;t give it a go, you&rsquo;ll never know&rsquo;. It&rsquo;s amazing how much can be achieved through shear guts and determination, which if bolstered by a bullet proof and trustworthy team that possesses diverse skills and attributes, can be very powerful. Diversity counts for an awful lot in my opinion; it encourages tolerance, team work, moral responsibility, and just as importantly, it keeps things fresh and interesting.  Advice to yourself 10 years ago?  Be open to advice and constructive criticism, but don&rsquo;t listen to the doubters. Always trust your gut instinct, never be afraid of failing, and always push the boundaries. Oh, and work even harder to be more tolerant and patient! I&rsquo;ve had to work very hard over the past 10 years to become a more tolerant and more patient person, which I really did struggle with at the outset, and guess to an extent I still do. These are two of the many things I&rsquo;ve learned from my business partners, which I most definitely could not have picked up from reading a book; this is evidence that building a diverse team and taking time to learn from one another is imperative.&nbsp;  How will the business develop over the next 10 years?  I hope we will continue to learn, adapt, grow, and use our knowledge and skills to give back to the North East of England. We will do everything we can to move with the times. We will continue to invest, for the good of our business, and for all employees that dedicate their time and effort to help our company meet its wider strategic objectives. We&rsquo;re in business to build something special, a business that has longevity, not a lifestyle business that focusses on quick wins. For over 10 years, Forfusion&rsquo;s&nbsp;flexible and agile approach&nbsp;has proven successful for customers far and wide in finding the most&nbsp;effective solution&nbsp;that de-risks the planning, deployment, adoption and support of new technologies.  You have grown rapidly in a crowded field. What has been key to that growth? And how do you differentiate yourselves?  It&rsquo;s clear that technology is playing an increasingly bigger role in practically every aspect of business. This presenting significant opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings, but also poses huge risks. The risk of choosing the wrong vendor&rsquo;s technology for the desired business outcomes.  The risk of being unable to integrate with legacy systems. The risk of your IT systems not being to scale with your organisation. The reputational risk (personal, departmental and organisational) if it things goes wrong. And the most serious of all, the risks of cyber-attacks. These risks are a real challenge, and present a myriad of pain points for not just the IT department, but C-Suite.  What&rsquo;s been important to our growth is our approach. We only work with customers who have genuine pain points that we can help overcome. We don&rsquo;t sell technologies and products per se, that&rsquo;s of secondary importance. Our approach starts with asking similar questions to the following, which determines whether we can do business:    What is the business outcome you&rsquo;re looking to achieve / pain points you&rsquo;re trying to overcome?  How long has this been an issue?  Have you tried to do anything about it?  How much has the issue cost the business?&nbsp;  What would happen if you did nothing?    This approach is refreshing for the both ourselves and our customers. And it&rsquo;s one I think I think sets us apart from others trying to compete in this region, underlying our consistent double-digit growth rate over the last four years. Our customers know that we are not just trying to sell them something. They understand that we are trying to get to the heart of their issues to determine whether we can help or not.  Increasingly, we are invited in by organisations whose biggest pain by far is cyber-security (or lack of it).  What is driving this market?  We&rsquo;re entering what commentators are calling The Fourth Industrial Revolution &ndash; digital transformation on a massive scale. More and more devices or &lsquo;things&rsquo; are becoming connected. To each other and to the internet.  In 2015, there were around 7.3 billion people and around 6 billion connected devices. Today, there are twice as many connected devices in the world today then there are people! About 15 billion. That&rsquo;s an increase of about 150% in the last two years. There are more connected devices in India than there are toilets&hellip;  By 2030, there could be as many 500 billion (devices that is, not toilets!). This exponential change in ratio is going to have profound implications for not just the business world, but humanity as a whole.  Moreover, more than 90% of the world&rsquo;s data was created in the last 2 years! There has been more created since you started reading this article than there was for centuries of human existence&hellip; What an incredibly exciting and terrifying time to alive!  What are the key trends and issues in data security right now?  The problem is, knowledge of cyber-security best practice has not kept pace with the growth in scale, frequency and severity of cyber-attacks. As the world becomes more connected, there more opportunities available to those that seek to sabotage, pillage and plunder from hard working businesses.  This is confounded by the fact that more organisations embrace flexible and remote working. Whilst it is almost undeniable that remote working has a vast array of benefits to both employees and employers, it can be extremely difficult to protect remote workers from cyber-attacks. Because it&rsquo;s too easy for them to bypass the corporate network &ndash; willingly or unwillingly (without digressing onto Hillary Clinton&rsquo;s email shenanigans!).  There&rsquo;s no one magic solution to cyber-security. If anyone suggests otherwise, run the other way. Organisations need to think about Defence in Depth &ndash; multiple layers of security to mitigate the vast array of risks and varied attacks that can be launched on modern IT infrastructure.  The first line of defence, particularly for mobile workers is at the DNS layer. And that&rsquo;s why Cisco&rsquo;s recent acquisition of OpenDNS represented a significant step in protection of mobile workers &ndash;defence via a Secure Internet Gateway. However this alone is not enough. It can&rsquo;t protect your organisations from email application activity. For this, you need a next generation firewall to combat the increasing sophistication of cyber-attacks.  There are obviously many types of cyber-attack, but one particular attack has shot up recently and that is Ransomware - the denial of digital services held for a financial ransom.  The genius of Ransomware is that it monetises assets that, in most cases, are only valuable to that of the victim. The most painful aspect of these attacks, is that not all hackers play fair. Often, even after the victim has paid the ransom, their data and assets are never retrieved. Some sources report that Ransomware attacks increased threefold in 2016, with one in five businesses affected worldwide.  The implementation of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in May 2018 is another big issue that will affect every business. This regulation will increase privacy for individuals and give regulatory authorities powers to take action against businesses that fail to adequate steps to protect their data. In fact, companies can be fined 4% of annual global revenue or &euro;20 million &ndash; whichever is greater!  Regardless of Brexit, the regulation applies to non-EU companies that process personal data of individuals residing in the EU. What&rsquo;s worrying is that many businesses are unaware of this regulation, and could be sleepwalking into non-compliance.  Are you working internationally?  Forfusion is proud to have been working with international customers since 2009. We were drafted into assist in the planning and deployment of multimillion pound unified communications project with the Gold Coast Hospital in Australia. Since then, we have been invited in by customers from Central Europe, Scandinavia, South East Asia and even Africa.  Our approach is renowned, and up until fairly recently, was mostly spread far and wide through word of mouth. Whether through an increase in digital disruption and innovation, or driven by the growth in customer facing digital services and applications, there are many factors driving the digital economy.  This demand enables the creation of exciting new businesses, all with a focus on delivering new customer experiences through the innovative use of technology.  Whilst customers and the wider economy benefit, companies themselves need to grapple with the challenges this growth creates. One of the most pressing issues is maintaining a constant stream of highly skilled technicians, consultants and developers to maintain that growth.  As a result, the IT skills gap in the UK continues to widen, and given the events of the past few weeks, uncertainty surrounding the UK\'s position in Europe may discourage companies from turning to talent from further afield.  So what can be done?  Earlier this week Forfusion had another successful Trainee graduate from our Trainee Development Program (TDP), this is the second graduate we\'ve had come through the program in the past couple of months, and we\'re pleased to say they have exceeded our expectations and are a great example of the young talent that\'s out there in our region.  To ensure these individuals have the right environment in which they can fully develop their skills, requires a lot of effort from the wider Forfusion team, and it\'s been well worth it.  By creating a flexible program of work experience, structured learning, mentoring and assessment, we believe we\'ve created a balanced environment in which the trainees can flourish. The program allows trainees to play to their strengths whilst also focusing on areas which require improvement, developing these through on-line learning, and most importantly mentoring.  Assigning each trainee, a Senior Engineer or Consultant as mentor for the duration of the program, is one of the major reasons for its success. We\'ve have been pleasantly surprised by the feedback from both trainees and mentors alike.  From a trainee&rsquo;s perspective not only does it allow the trainees a more informal way of learning, but they also benefit from the many years of experience each mentor possesses. From a mentor&rsquo;s perspective it also aids their development and helps them develop soft skills, and also keep on top of core skills which may be at risk of becoming stale if they were solely focussed on delivering solutions day in, day out.  What next for Forfusion and TDP?   Given its success, the program is here to stay. We\'re currently hosting a number of school leavers on work experience over the summer on the lookout for the best local talent who will be the next TDP entrants. We\'re also looking at how the program can be improved and whether it can be integrated it with the Government sponsored Apprentice scheme, which will hopefully bring additional benefits and expand our reach across the North East talent pool.  It\'s in all our interests to ensure the next generation of budding developers and engineers do not have to look outside the region to realise their potential. I&rsquo;ve architected complex designs, technology road-maps and risk mitigation strategies, for some of the largest blue-chip companies in the world. More recently, I&rsquo;ve been responsible for managing and executing a company acquisition, as well as developing the associated earn out mechanics.  Background  Prior to life in the commercial world, I spent my time working for the armed forces in some of the most hostile places on earth. Whilst serving, I worked extensively with computer networks, as well as designing blast walls to absorb rocket energy. I also worked as a specialised military diver and spent half my life underwater searching for dead bodies and other unpleasant things. To let off steam I spent much of my time on the judo mat and in the boxing ring, and in fact, participating in any physical and mental challenge that presented itself. Aside from this, I love fine wine and France, as well as spending time with my crazy boxer dogs and my very patient girlfriend. My name is Davey, I am 22 and I have just graduated with a Dual Honours degree in Chinese Language and International Politics, from Nottingham Trent University.  As my course name suggests, there wasn&rsquo;t much IT involved, so when Forfusion accepted me on a work placement, my knowledge of IT networking was very basic. Nevertheless, I wanted to see what IT business involved and to see whether I could put my skills to good use in this environment being an IT novice.  I was taught a lot more than the basics of just IT networking. It was the COO, David Griffin that helped me develop the concepts behind running a business, from accounting and budgeting for the business as a whole, to customised software.  Forfusion provided me with the right resources to get a better understanding of the basics for setting up a network and an insight into sitting the CCNA exam, my first step on the Cisco career ladder.  These resources came in the form of Cisco textbooks and PC applications, as well as one-on-one time with Forfusion&rsquo;s Cisco experts, which I found invaluable as they were able to explain the fundamentals of networking faster than any book or video could have done.  I have enjoyed my time at Forfusion immensely and I have also found how I can apply my skills within an IT business. IT like all other business requires a good level of communication between its employees and customers, and being able to speak four languages enables me to communicate efficiently and effectively.&nbsp;  I have also seen the similarities between a business and politics &ndash; both use the process of making uniform decisions that apply to members of a group.  Being at Forfusion has made me think about the future and what it may hold for me. To let off steam I spent much of my time on the judo mat and in the boxing ring, and in fact, participating in any physical and mental challenge that presented itself. We&rsquo;ve been running our CWA scheme here at Forfusion for almost a year and in that time, we&rsquo;ve had two participants. One of which &ndash; Simon Marshall - was offered a full time role as he displayed all of the qualities we look for and now works for our Government Secure Services team.  The second participant &ndash; Molly Stone - is coming to the end of her placement this week. Molly&rsquo;s personality, technical skills and work ethic have impressed all of the team at Newcastle HQ. This is what she had to say about her time at Forfusion:  Civvy street  For me, my CWA at Forfusion was by far the most beneficial part of my resettlement.  From the age of 16, I moved from my family home and joined the army. Seven years later after many operational deployments in highly structured and disciplined work routines, and a lot of training, I decided that the time had come for me to move on into the world outside the Armed Forces, known as &lsquo;Civvy Street&rsquo;.  The day that I completed my notice of termination, I was filled with a lot of apprehension and questions:  Will I get a job? Are my skills transferrable? Where will I live? How will I cope with all this change?  This was a perfectly normal response to such a life changing decision. Fortunately, a friend pointed me in the direction of Forfusion and I applied to join their CWA.  I spent a total of two weeks with the company and I wanted to share my experiences to try and encourage other people in my situation to take up this opportunity, as I found it invaluable.  Forfusion is a professional services and IT consultancy that create customised technology solutions to suit business needs. As I wanted to start my new career as a Network Engineer, Forfusion seemed like a good place to go for me. But what was beneficial is that I learnt about &nbsp;several of the departments from project management to sales.  In good company  Over a third of the team at Forfusion are ex-military themselves and are therefore accustomed to the transformations which those leaving the Armed Forces will experience. I obtained lots of advice regarding differences I would notice and how some of the team personally dealt with the process, not just relating to work but also civilian life generally.  From day one, I felt very comfortable being shown around by one of the ex-military employees and on arrival, I was introduced to the team and taken through the induction process. This really helped to embed in my mind how a civilian company runs. I spent time with someone from each section so that I could see how all departments link together and understand the bigger picture.  Within the first few days, one of the consultants (Marc) took me through a small test to see what stage I was at technically. From the results, he made a plan of areas that I may need to improve in and technologies that I could learn in more depth to help me progress. He was genuinely interested in what I wanted to achieve from my placement and also where I wanted to go with my career.&nbsp; I found the time spent with Marc invaluable, he explained different directions I could take in my career and this helped me in my decisions. Marc spent a lot of time teaching me new things and also showing me great ways to see these in practice.  As a company, I think that Forfusion has a fantastic ethos and genuinely care about the experience the customer receives. They are not a company who are financially driven, this shows when you talk to any employee. Forfusion&rsquo;s main goal is to help the customer understand everything which is being put in place and why. The company is full of friendly, motivated people who are brilliant at their jobs and if that is not a good enough reason to want to work or carry out a CWA here, then I don&rsquo;t know what is!  If you are going through the resettlement process and are worried about your transition into civilian life, I highly recommend going to Forfusion for a CWA. Every single person cares about what you want to achieve from the attachment and are interested in your feedback and making improvements to the programme. Your mind will be put at ease and it will help you start transitioning before you enter your new life. How it began  Realising that I was going nowhere fast in the retail industry, where I had been working since I left school, I decided to join the military in 1998.  I had friends who had recently joined and I knew they were loving it. So after a bit of soul searching, I decided the time was right to pay the military careers office in Newcastle a visit.  The only problem was deciding whether to join the Royal Navy, which was significant to me, as my Grandad had served in the Navy during the Second World War, or the Army, where most of my friends had already joined.  After a long chat with the Sergeant, I joined the Royal Signals as a Communications System Technician &ndash; a decision which would prove to be one of the best I had ever made, as IT grew in importance in not just the military, but day-to-day life in general, as the years progressed.  Most of my military life was spent in Germany, with the only exception being my last five years when I was offered a unique role within the Joint Services Signal Unit (JSSU) back in the UK.  Civvy Street  I was placed into a civilian team as an embedded support engineer and shortly afterwards I began working directly for that team.  This concept was completely alien to me, as I had spent the previous 11 years in mainstream Regiments, working to strict routines. Although, as the weeks passed, I started to enjoy what I was doing more and more.  After deciding that I liked my new lifestyle, I submitted my notice to terminate and started to look towards the next step in my career.  What if&hellip;?  I suppose many of us feel anxious upon the conclusion of their military careers, a fear of the unknown maybe. Personally, I was lucky to find myself in the enviable position of having 5 years of civilian &ldquo;work experience&rdquo; before my exit.  Nonetheless, there was always that thought of &ldquo;what if it all goes wrong?&rdquo; &ndash; a niggling feeling at night, having put my wife, kids and house at risk from the day I submitted my notice and I needed to ensure I gave myself the best chance I could.  During the final year prior to leaving, every service member is offered a 3 day workshop to give you an insight into what to expect when you do start looking for work. It covers CV writing, interview technique, placing you on the spot in front of your peers to see how you cope under scrutiny. One of the key objectives of this workshop is to identify transferable skills. It was at this point that I really realised how much a career in the forces had given me.  Skills to pay the bills  Traits such as management, leadership, teamwork, personal discipline, confidence &ndash; to name but a few &ndash; all come to the forefront when I started breaking down what I had accomplished during my time.  Add to this the sheer amount of experience and qualifications I had gathered over the years and I soon started to realise how desirable I had become.  All of the qualities that were nurtured in me during my military life are used on a daily basis: organisation, time management, the ability to adapt to ever changing workloads and requirements, negotiation and communication skills are all used daily and effectively. Even the ability to tolerate differing personalities so not to disrupt the working environment comes into play every now and again!  Thinking back to the time before the Army, I can honestly say I am a completely different person to who I was back then, and even though I was at a management level, I would have struggled with many of the situations I find myself in today.  I have now been out of the Army and have been working at Forfusion for almost nine months. This is a company which I have found to be very supportive of the Armed Forces and who actively recruit former members due to their backgrounds.  Forfusion has given me a chance to prove myself even though I had been out of its main line of work for a few years. A chance I was grateful for and I thoroughly enjoy the challenges it has presented to me.  Each day presents new challenges, and I feel we&rsquo;re able to deal with them more effectively due to the skills and professionalism developed during our time spent in the forces. Chief Technology Officer                           Email &nbsp;&nbsp; Call +44 (0) 191 500 9100                                                                                                                                                          Profile Bio               Areas of responsibility within Forfusion  As Chief Technical Officer I&rsquo;m responsible for defining our technical strategy and culture. My role encompasses vendor and product alignment, engineering capability and strategic partner selection.  Industry experience  Since leaving the RAF in 2005, I&rsquo;ve worked for some of the largest SI&rsquo;s and technology vendors in the world. This afforded me a fascinating insight into how IT worked or rather didn&rsquo;t work, in some of the UK&rsquo;s largest commercial and public sector organisations. I specialised initially in network and security infrastructure, gaining a solid understanding of the importance of the network as an enabling platform for delivering world-class applications and collaboration services.  As the world moves towards the third&nbsp;Platform of IT; where mobility, cloud, big data and social platforms are going to play a huge part in shaping all of our futures, I try to ensure Forfusion&rsquo;s strategic partners are aligned on the same journey and have solutions to match our customers\' expectations.  Background  I developed a passion for technology during a 14-year career as an Electronics Engineer in the RAF, working on everything from valve driven amplifiers (yes valves!)  to the latest solid state, microprocessor powered radar systems. The RAF allowed me to experience first-hand how powerful today&rsquo;s modern integrated systems can be; at the heart of it all, digital computers providing critical real-time information to save lives and keep the nation secure.  Favourite quote    &ldquo;Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? He&rsquo;s a mile away and you&rsquo;ve got his shoes.&rdquo;  Billy Connolly  One of my all-time heroes and so much more than a comedian. Now sadly suffering from Parkinson&rsquo;s disease I saw him live last year, and it was inspirational to see someone so clearly robbed of their on-stage physical exuberance, still able to elicit side-splitting laughter through his warmth, intelligence and wit.  Other interests  As a father of three, my leisure time is at somewhat of a premium. So, when not performing the role of chauffeur, butler, UN peacekeeper or cat herder, I like to try and keep fit either down the local gym or by playing football. I also enjoy the odd round of golf &ndash; only when the weather is good, mind. Finally, I find reading is a great way of relaxing, so I try and end the day with a few pages of John le Carre or Tom Clancy.
