I&rsquo;ve architected complex designs, technology road-maps and risk mitigation strategies, for some of the largest blue-chip companies in the world. More recently, I&rsquo;ve been responsible for managing and executing a company acquisition, as well as developing the associated earn out mechanics.  Background  Prior to life in the commercial world, I spent my time working for the armed forces in some of the most hostile places on earth. Whilst serving, I worked extensively with computer networks, as well as designing blast walls to absorb rocket energy. I also worked as a specialised military diver and spent half my life underwater searching for dead bodies and other unpleasant things. To let off steam I spent much of my time on the judo mat and in the boxing ring, and in fact, participating in any physical and mental challenge that presented itself. This requires ensuring an efficient end to end process in order to achieve consistent, profitable delivery of services, whilst maintaining an empowered and happy team.  Industry experience  I ventured into the technology sector 11 years ago, quickly obtaining an understanding of and strong relationships within the Cisco supply chain via UK distribution partners. During the early years of Forfusion, this allowed for key relationships to be formed alongside the building of a stable, process driven foundation for growth.  More recently, I have been responsible for the overall scoping, implementation and adoption of a single vendor eco-system, automating processes and increasing efficiencies across CRM, finance / back-office, PMO and Contracts. Although we are currently in early adoption phase, this will transform the scalability and intelligence of the Forfusion operation over the coming months and years.  Background  Following further education studying Design and Engineering, I applied this knowledge to the Telecoms Industry. I progressed through various companies in roles from design office to PMO and ultimately Programme Manager for a national rollout of cross-carrier mast installations and upgrades. I worked closely with TIER2 management teams, where I gained knowledge of well-executed processes, the understanding of commercial implication, customer relations and the importance of a strong, well-engaged team.  I left Telecoms to start an online company that provided a trading platform/portal that allowed for smaller suppliers to join forces in order to jointly fulfil larger order requests. This provided education on the provisioning and running of a limited company, the world of Cisco Networking, and the importance of cash flow and&nbsp; ledgering.  Favourite quote    &ldquo;Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren\'t used to an environment where excellence is expected.&rdquo;  Steve Jobs  I really like the Apple design ethos of creating desirable, high-end objects that are simple to use. The amount of time and collaborative effort required to achieve simplicity is often undervalued; but if you are going to invest your energy into any project, you should always aim for the output to be something that others aspire to.  Other interests  Outside of work, I enjoy most forms of sport and am motivated by competition and challenge days. I also love troubleshooting and fixing anything mechanical, albeit that I don&rsquo;t get much time nowadays to indulge. My ongoing (9 years!) project is a C20XE engined 1972 Mini 1275GT, that is currently looking very sad in the garage! My role encompasses vendor and product alignment, engineering capability and strategic partner selection.  Industry experience  Since leaving the RAF in 2005, I&rsquo;ve worked for some of the largest SI&rsquo;s and technology vendors in the world. This afforded me a fascinating insight into how IT worked or rather didn&rsquo;t work, in some of the UK&rsquo;s largest commercial and public sector organisations. I specialised initially in network and security infrastructure, gaining a solid understanding of the importance of the network as an enabling platform for delivering world-class applications and collaboration services.  As the world moves towards the third&nbsp;Platform of IT; where mobility, cloud, big data and social platforms are going to play a huge part in shaping all of our futures, I try to ensure Forfusion&rsquo;s strategic partners are aligned on the same journey and have solutions to match our customers\' expectations.  Background  I developed a passion for technology during a 14-year career as an Electronics Engineer in the RAF, working on everything from valve driven amplifiers (yes valves!)  to the latest solid state, microprocessor powered radar systems. The RAF allowed me to experience first-hand how powerful today&rsquo;s modern integrated systems can be; at the heart of it all, digital computers providing critical real-time information to save lives and keep the nation secure.  Favourite quote    &ldquo;Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? He&rsquo;s a mile away and you&rsquo;ve got his shoes.&rdquo;  Billy Connolly  One of my all-time heroes and so much more than a comedian. Now sadly suffering from Parkinson&rsquo;s disease I saw him live last year, and it was inspirational to see someone so clearly robbed of their on-stage physical exuberance, still able to elicit side-splitting laughter through his warmth, intelligence and wit.  Other interests  As a father of three, my leisure time is at somewhat of a premium. So, when not performing the role of chauffeur, butler, UN peacekeeper or cat herder, I like to try and keep fit either down the local gym or by playing football. I also enjoy the odd round of golf &ndash; only when the weather is good, mind. Finally, I find reading is a great way of relaxing, so I try and end the day with a few pages of John le Carre or Tom Clancy. Client Services Director                         Email  Call +44 (0) 191 500 9100                                                                                                                                                          Profile Bio               Areas of responsibility within Forfusion  As Client Services Director I&rsquo;m responsible for setting strategy around our sales, marketing and services areas. I have the day to day responsibility for making sure that we&rsquo;re working closely with our clients to ensure that our people and services transform their business.  Industry experience  In my 30+ year IT career, I&rsquo;ve worked in the UK and Australia for software and integration companies ranging from small business to global powerhouses. I&rsquo;ve led national product, sales and services teams, as well as large regional and global service development portfolio programmes.  Background  I started life in the mainframe software world in my hometown of Newcastle. Drawn to the lights of London, I became one of the go-to design consultants of some of the earliest mass-scale LAN deployments, at a time when speed was a kilobit thing.  My curiosity for software took me to collaboration and workflow systems (Lotus Notes in those days) where my team and I broke new ground in automation of things such as global insurance claims. A move to Australia for seven years saw me working more on the development of services portfolios across the globe. Returning to my native North East in 2003, I&rsquo;ve remained in IT businesses in various consulting, service and commercial roles. I&rsquo;m also actively involved in Dynamo North East, a tech cluster run by industry. I&rsquo;m busy working on the security theme, trying to make our part of the world the safest place to work. This requires ensuring   that we maintain a world class team delivering exceptional   customer experience  .  Industry experience  I have worked in IT and Telecoms for over 25 years and have enjoyed a mix of different roles across many client sectors. During my career I have   experienced different insights from working for Manufacturers, Service Providers and Partner organisations   in multi-national roles and leveraging consultative approaches.  &nbsp;   In particular I enjoy working with customers assisting   them   to define their needs and building out how support will be delivered to meet specific requirements. I apprecaite that Finance differs from Public sector; however, many common areas exist such as adherence to compliance and availability.  &nbsp;   I have also spent much time designing and building services and refining Software delivered solutions to meet exacting business needs.    Background  I   joined the IT industry in the early 90&rsquo;s and undertook a sandwich year placement with ICL  .   I began with Computer Spares operations, working for many departments whilst a placement student in parallel with my studies.  &nbsp;   I pioneered the use of ITIL into a Telecoms Service Delivery model in the early 00&rsquo;s and progressed to running an Investment Bank NOC.   I noticed a disconnect in the way that solutions were sold and supported, so I spent more recent roles in Service design, go-to-market and sales training. This developed into the use of data analytics and maintaining a knowledge on the latest technologies.  &nbsp;   Favourite quote    \" We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak  &rdquo;  Epictetus
  This quote and others since from the Dalai Lama and Simon Sinek underscore the need to   actively   listen and not just wait for your turn to talk  . This is as important with family as it is with customers and colleagues  .  Other interests  Outside of work, I enjoy   watching motorsports, family walks and cycling. I am often found on Zwift early in the morning. I am a big fan of sci-fi and spy books and films.
